We arrived home on Christmas Eve to find about 6 inches of snow on the ground. While Kent spent several hours shoveling, the boys played with new toys and chased around Ted the Hero, who missed them terribly.
Then the boys helped us light luminaries in the front yard. Everyone in the neighborhood lights them on Christmas Eve, a lovely tradition that, as it turns out, is actually a lot of work. But they did look pretty neat.
After dinner, the boys put out Christmas cookies and milk for Santa, which led to a meltdown for Miles, who wanted to eat the cookies. Thankfully, Santa saved one for him.
On Christmas morning, Grant bounced into our room: "Santa came last night! I wonder what he brought me?" Santa had filled the boys' stockings with gifts and left a new workbench for G and a train set for Miles.
Other than new trains, Miles' favorite gift was a plastic tube full of M&Ms, which he clutched all day {until an unfortunate incident in which they exploded all over the floor}.
Grant loved a new globe, airplane and a book about a bear.
It was a very merry Christmas morning at our house.
